Tiny bit of an update
Oct. 20th, 2004 04:10 pmOk, so my last post was in May, and here it is mid-October. This year has been an adventure. As my birthday approaches, I take stock of myself, my life, carer, accomplishments, etc. I can't possibly write everything into one post, but I guess a bit is better than nothing. I want people to know that I'm starting to crawl out from under my rock and pull my life together. Starting, mind. :-)
Early this year, I made some extremely cool new friends in Tucson (you know who you are, even though I've neglected you terribly) and suddenly lost one of them to suicide. That made me take a look at my life from a different perspective than my usual birthday-related reflections. I have no intention of shortening whatever time I have left, but you honestly never know when you'll go. I realized I had to make some changes, and jettison that which was making me unhappy. In short, here I am in October, and I have a different job, a different home, different activities, and I'm seeing a different guy. One who does not drag me down.
I'm finally getting the studio pulled together again. It's in the basement of a 105-year old house in Santa Ana. I got one commission finished, and I only have 3 major pieces and one repair on the backlog list. Not counting the scepters. That's a big-ass project I'll talk about later, if I can ever get myself to post. :-) I have great intentions (ha) of posting photos, etc. We'll see.
At any rate, my current writing contract is up on Nov. 5, and I have a few things in the pipeline, but if they don't immediately pan out, I'll be happy to get in some studio time before my next gig. I can't surf for several days after it stops raining anyway. :-) I have tons of cool ideas I'm dying to play with, and I'll be sure to post about those. The idea behind my starting an LJ was to prompt me to do more jewelry stuff, get it on the web, and post about it.
Overall I'm doing very well, and I'll try to post some more within a week or so. Really. :-)
