Doggy!

Of course it's a very busy time of year that I take two days off to drive 400 miles and adopt a dog. Nobody said I was really bright. :-)

The Bubbly girl is a sweetie, but rather confused, which combines with her black lab nature to result in constant motion. I have to consciously take deep breaths and relax or I end up on her wavelength, which is a very spastic place to be. Last night she finally would lie down in her bed in the same room with me, at least until I got up for something.

A certain doggy is going through a lot of new things. I intended to stay at my mom's for one night and bring her back to SB, but time spent in Petsmart and at the rest area extended the travel time and I hit the LA basin at a rather bad time. I needed to get to the P.O. Box in Santa Ana for a package and a check, and after that it was 4:00 and there was no way I was going to spend three hours on highway 91. Went over to Jon's instead. Another house and yard to sniff, more cats to chase, and more rules to learn. I was rather sleep-deprived, because she whimpered all night at Mom's, and shifted around quite a bit at Jon's house. I brought her home Wednesday, and the poor thing is going to stay here with me for a few days to give her a bit of stability before we trek into the studio. She likes my yard, and we chased some balls around, and she got to hear all the neighborhood dogs go off.

Bubbles got off to a bad start with Jon's dad's doggy Spencer. I had hoped to get up earlier and have them meet on neutral territory, but I was unsuccessful. She lunged at him and snapped, and I had to pull her back. Poor thing doesn't know who or what to defend. I need to work on the doggy-socialization thing with her, because Spencer comes over to Jon's house almost every day, and they need to get along. Also with the jumping on people and being super mouthy. I hope that some consistency and firm rules and attention will help.

Now, after a nap, I am feeling alive again. Time to go for a w-a-l-k!
