That last posting - the perky one? That was a woman in denial. Now, I can't knock denial too much - it has got me through some bad times. The past couple of weeks, though, my denial mechanism has been working overtime because I have a hard time admitting I'm sick.
OK, universe, you win. I'm sick.
Finally went to a doctor on Sunday and found out I have a kidney infection. This explained a lot of things I had been trying to explain away. The fallout is that I haven't got any real work done in over a week and am unlikely to get back into the studio before Thursday or Friday. This means I have nothing to sell at the big event I was planning to attend this weekend.
So I'm bailing out on coming to June Crown, which annoys me immensely (I could use the money, and this was goin to be a testing ground for new stuff I want to make for Pennsic).
I'm convalescing at my sweetie's house in Huntington Beach, which is much cooler than Santa Ana. I love the Victorian mansion I'm living in, but it didn't come with AC. The sweetie is taking very good care of me and I'm doing about as well as can be expected for someone with a serious illness who does not convalesce well.
Side note to Aastg: I found a portrait of Charles I wearing the three brothers jewel and it is *huge*. I was very surprised at this. I bought rectangular rubies quite some time ago because I have been slathering to recreate this jewel, but what I thought were proportional stones turn out to be way smaller than the original. That's ok, though, because I don't know how many customers are going to be willing to shell out for the small one, and a big one would be exponentially more expensive, even with the opaque rubies. Now that I have a source for larger garnets, however....
I'm going to go lie down now.
