Mostly functioning
Aug. 13th, 2007 09:08 amIf I thought I would have some real time off after Pennsic, I was sorely mistaken. Now I'm cleaning and organizing the studio after my house move and studiomate rearrangement and pre-Pennsic madness trashed the place. Then I get to go to work on stuff I've been promising people for a long time, do some carving on the Caid Sceptre Project for the display next weekend at Festival of the Rose, update my website and sketch out the line of jewelry that has been in my head for so long. That is now coming to the front of the list, because I'm headed to a jewelry conference in September during which I will have 20 minutes of personal time to consult with a major jewelry design industry professional on the future directions of my business. Whew!
Quote of the week from Pennsic
Clueless Git: Are you open?
Me: No. I am vacuuming the grass.
You would think that all the closed windows on the hooch and the sound of the shop-vac cleaning up paint chips would have been a clue, but no. This happened twice within ten minutes.
As others have summarized, the weather sucked royally. I was so busy trying to assemble stuff that should have been done weeks before that I only got out to one party the entire war. I'd get up early (like 6:30 or 7) and go downstairs to get some soldering done before the heat of the day hit, and suddenly it would be 10 AM. Then I'm getting up every 5 minutes to answer questions or tell someone that no, it still wasn't done yet, and then it would be 10 PM and we'd close up shop and I'd crash. Oh well, if I'm working 12-16 hour days, at least I'm doing it for me.
The good news is that the Attack Laurel insignia are here! Not in time to get any of the bronze ones plated, but I sold two silver ones at Pennsic. I have emailed and posted to
attacklaurel's journal and haven't heard anything back from her yet, but I'll have a photo up on my site soon. I'm rather pleased with how they turned out.
More soon if I have a few neurons to spare.
