Need grad present ideas

My little sister is graduating from college this May! Yay! She is going into teaching, which fills me with admiration, because I would be horrified by the prospect. I had considered this line of work until I was a TA in high school and got to grade the freshman papers. Let's just say that it's not my thing, k?

Anyhow, I want to get her something really nice for a graduation gift. My boss thinks jewelry would be good, but I'll probably be giving her jewelry for the majority of birthdays and Christmases. I usually have no problem picking out gifts, but my mind is blank on this one. Help! What would you really have wanted/needed/loved to get foor a graduation present?

Money. My number one favorite graduation gift, bar none.

Oddly enough, that's *just* what I was going to say. Don't forget a nice mushy card, too, though (or funny...depends upon your relationship)

If she doesn't already have one, a really top-notch fountain pen or leather Day-Timer/Filofax. I'd say briefcase, but she'll likely need something larger than that to take stuff to her teaching job.

Congrats to her! As someone who received half a bicycle for high school ($50 toward a $100 ten-speed), and nothing for college graduation, I think anything is good. :-)
