Those of you who know me well are accustomed to my life taking odd changes of direction every so often, but this is a biggie. Remember a few months back (only a few posts ago, in fact), when I was dithering about whether I should accept a direct-hire job after swearing I'd never do that again? I really need to trust myself more. That job *did* turn out to be soul-sucking, and it has finally spit me out, not soulless, but exhausted.

I have decided to take this change in direction and run with it. 2005 was supposed to be the year that I made some long-term dreams come true, and it did start out that way. I closed escrow on my first investment property, took a wonderful trip to England with klwilliams, and was generally pulling my art together. Then I took this job, and the rest of my life ground to a halt. It ate my whole Summer, and here it is fall already and I haven't surfed much, created much, or got into shape like I wanted. So, I've decided to get back on track with the whole dreams-coming-true thing.

I have signed up for the Jewelry Technician Intensive course at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Franisco. Class starts on Monday, October 10, so I have just enough time to set my affairs in order. :-) It's only two months, and by mid-December I'll be back around and be a Jewelers of America Certified Bench Jeweler Technician to boot. I hope to have my new websites together before I go, but that is lower priority than getting my property re-rented and finishing a couple of major jewelry projects I've promised.

When I made the decision to go my own way, and then to go to Revere, I had a feeling that it was the right thing for me to be doing with my life. I'm very excited and happy and the future looks sunny rather than fluorescently-lit. I'll keep you all posted!
