What on earth is she avoiding so assisuously that she posts to LJ instead? :-)
I'm Photoshopping some photos of jewelry to make into poster/banners to hang in the booth. Want to get them done today so I can have the banners for the show I'm doing on Sunday. I do not enjoy the process - I'm too damn picky and my photography isn't the greatest to start with.
All my friends will kindly refrain from pointing out how foolish it is to be trying to crank out a bunch of pieces done with a completely new-to-me technique in the four days before a show. I embrace my foolishness. It's filigree. It's taking forEVer, but I'm rather pleased with the results. I'm using Argentium Sterling, and it solders beautifully. I only need to pickle it for a minute to get the flux off, then run the piece through the wee tumbler and it shines right up.
[A fellow from New Zealand invented a new sterling alloy that uses Germanium rather than copper in the alloy. It doesn't tarnish. Really, hardly at all. No firescale either. Its color is very bright, closer to fine silver than to standard sterling. Unfortunately for those of us with any heraldic education whatsoever, the trade name he chose, 'Argentium', sounds very dopey and redundant.]
Once my HELOC gets refinanced here in the next week or two, I'll upgrade my LJ account and post photos. I have a fantastic loan guy. If any SoCal types need a loan broker, I'll recommed Dave.
Courtesy of Jon: If you make an excessive amount of filigree, does it become fil-egregious?
